NBC UNIVERSAL ON THE SET'S mission to encourage diversity in television begins in the classroom. Using specially designed teaching applications, educators will have the resources to initiate discussions on diversity and encourage students to voice their opinions to win opportunities to win hands-on experience in television production.
The educational components of NBCU On The Set education program include:
DIVERSITY DISCUSSION GUIDE - developed by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), teachers are provided the resources to initiate and guide discussions on diversity with classes and/or student groups.
NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST - a 250-500 word essay to win a spot in the NBC UNIVERSAL Television Production Internship in New York City.
DIGITAL MEDIA PROJECT - upload digital messages to nbcu.com to win prizes, grants for schools and a spot in the NBC UNIVERSAL Television Production Internship in New York City.
NBC Universal Cable continues its goal to support digital and interactive media curriculum in schools by awarding grants to schools. A $1000 grant will be awarded to the school of the students winning the National Essay Contest. A $500 grant will be awarded to the school of the students winning the Digital Media Project competition.
