NBC UNIVERSAL CABLE "ON THE SET" - ENCOURAGING DIVERSITY IN TELEVISION

Working through you, NBCU local cable affiliate partners, high schools across the country can take advantage of this robust educational program that offers lesson applications to teachers and opportunities for students ages 14-18 to experience the real world of television production.

ON THE SET provides discussion guides on diversity in media, encouraging students to seek and voice their opinions. Students can enter a NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST, where, by voicing their opinions, have the chance to win a spot in the NBC UNIVERSAL NATIONAL TELEVISION PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP in New York City next summer. In turn, the winner's schools will receive a $1000 or $500 grant to support media and digital initiatives.

Program components, including classroom resources and Television Production Internship, are supported by partners that include The National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), The Cable Center and NBC Universal.

The mission of NBC UNIVERSAL ON THE SET is to reach-out to diverse groups of students and educators with lesson plans, hands-on experience and mentorship programs, enriching student's development and broadening their perspectives for their educational and professional paths, the result leading to increased opportunities for diversity to flourish in the television industry.

NBCU ON THE SET has four vital components you can tap into:
